Dr. Bennett Joins TCUW Board

Bennett and Helmick Join TCUW Board
 
Galax:   Dr. Kerri Bennett and Ches Helmick have been elected to serve on the Twin County United Way (TCUW) Board of Directors. Bennett and Helmick join 15 other community volunteers who provide oversight for TCUW in its goal to advance the common good.

Dr. Bennett is a native of Richlands, Virginia and a graduate of Southwest Virginia Community College. She received her Bachelor Degree in Nursing from East Tennessee State University. For seven years she worked as a nurse in the Emergency Room, Intensive Care, and Geriatrics and was the recipient of the Who's Who among American Registered Nurses award. Upon graduation from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa in 2005, Dr. Bennett began her career as a Doctor of Chiropractic in Nashville, Tennessee.  Dr. Bennett currently serves a President of the Galax Rotary Club and serves on the Board of Directors of the Galax Downtown Association.

Ches Helmick is a financial advisor for Edward Jones Investments. Helmick grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated Liberty University in 2008 with a double major in Finance and Business Management. He is a member of the First Baptist Church in Galax and serves on the boards for the Galax Downtown Association and the Chestnut Creek School of the Arts.

Larry Bolt, Chair of the TCUW Board of Directors expressed his appreciation to Bennett and Helmick for their willingness to serve. “TCUW is focusing on bottom line results: how many lives we change and the meaningful, lasting impact we make in our community. Kerri and Ches are sincere about their desire to make a difference and TCUW is in a unique position to be a motivational force for positive impact.”

TCUW supports local agencies that promote healthy lifestyles, financial stability and education. The dollars donated in the Twin Counties are multiplied by the work of the agencies to achieve lasting change and a better quality of life for Twin County residents.
